On Wednesday evening at 11:11pm, Stephen and Sarah brought Carlos and Jeremiah home to Roanoke! (See my Exciting Journey post below for part one of this story.)

They have been waiting for this day for quite some time and we are so thrilled for them. So without further delay, please welcome my nephews Carlos and Jeremiah!

Just waiting…

Kevin & Chrystal’s Wedding

Filed under: Weddings — Mike at 1:30 pm on Wednesday, January 25, 2006

I had a lot of fun photographing Kevin & Chrystal’s engagement at Virginia Tech back in November, and they were my first wedding scheduled for this year!

After the ceremony at St. Paul United Methodist Church we headed to the German Club Manor. I am convinced that receptions held here or The Inn at Virginia Tech are guaranteed to be beautiful.

Kevin and Chrystal are a fabulous couple kicking 2006 off to an awesome start!

A New Lifestyle

Okay, some of you may remember my post about a Non-Resolution a couple of weeks ago.

To date, I have lost 6.8 pounds and my overall fitness and health is better too! No, this wasn’t from not having cheese for two weeks, but that was a start to get me motivated.

I have been reading and following the suggestions of a book called Body By God written by Dr. Ben Lerner and the knowledge has been eye opening and wonderful. This book is NOT about a diet, but it is about a LIFESTYLE. It is something that I believe is easily attainable and is not difficult to follow. The benefits are well worth it! Check out his website (above) for some tidbits from the book.

On a similar note, I just watched an award winning documentary called Super Size Me produced and directed by Morgan Spurlock. He decides to eat from a certain fast food chain for thirty days and the results are stunning (read: sickening). I would highly recommend anyone watch this film if you are really interested in seeing what is being served to you.

An Exciting Journey

I got up at 4:55am this morning to take my brother Stephen and his wife Sarah to the Roanoke Airport to begin a very exciting trip! They are currently on their way to Guatemala to bring home their two adopted sons (who are brothers) from an incredible agency called Hannah’s Hope.

They have been going through the legal process for several months and so this is the end of one journey for them, and the beginning of a whole new one!

They will be bringing their boys home on Wednesday and we are looking forward to welcoming them into the family!

Michael is Accepted by NPS

I received a phone call today saying that I was accepted by Nikon Professional Services! Their website states:

“Nikon Professional Services is an organization for qualified, full-time professional photographers.”

This will make my life a lot easier when it comes to repairing, or needing to get additional equipment from them in a hurry. Kudos to Nikon for offering this service!

Speaking of Nikon, I think we are going to see a lot more impressive gear from them in the months ahead. Last week they announced that they would be discontinuing all film cameras (with the exception of the F6) and focusing almost entirely on digital gear!

I have always used Nikon equipment exclusively and it is truly worth every penny. I pay for what I believe to be the best equipment and therefore I get awesome results!

By the way, I just ordered the new (and elusive) Nikon D200 body. I’m definitely looking forward to using this camera.
