James & Carrie’s Wedding

Filed under: Weddings — Mike at 8:00 am on Friday, April 28, 2006

Last Saturday I photographed James and Carrie’s wedding and had a wonderful time with them! After a nice ceremony we headed outside where it was still raining, but by the time we got near the Corinthian ballroom the skies let up for about 45 minutes - just long enough for us to go play for a little bit!

Thanks again for allowing me to be a part of your special day!

That’s how much power this beautiful car has to play around with.

This is none other than the 2006 Chrysler 300C SRT8 - which James & Carrie were using for their wedding day. It’s so beasty I just had to take a couple images of it for fun.

Actually, I kind of think it would be fun to do a whole shoot like this. Does anybody have a cool car they want photographed?

Yesterday I announced the release of the new Escaleraphotography.com and the response has been incredible! I have received wonderful e-mails and phone calls from past clients, current clients, possible future clients, and other photographers!

Thank you so much to everyone for your overwhelming support. It really has meant so much to me and I am truly grateful.

There are more exciting things to come in the near future so stay tuned for more!

My love and best wishes,
Michael

Florabella

I was invited to the grand opening of Florabella this evening and I am so impressed! For those who do not know, Florabella is a European style florist and home decor studio located in downtown Roanoke and is owned by Mark Newcomb.

Mark’s 20+ years of design experience has served him well and I am so excited for him and for Roanoke to be lucky enough to have him here! If you get a chance, stop by and visit Mark and his wonderful studio at 211 First Street.

A Slight Rant

Okay, most everyone who knows anything about me knows that I am really big on kindness, and what goes around comes around. Under normal, every day circumstances I wouldn’t post what I am about to write or think too much about it. However, this was someone’s wedding day.

Saturday I was photographing James and Carrie’s wedding and despite the nasty weather most all day, we got an hour break in the rain EXACTLY when we had planned to go around town and shoot a little bit. So at one point I took them to Jefferson Street overlooking downtown where we shot this image:

Now, this is almost directly in front of St. Andrews and most everyone was being so nice about us being in the middle of the road. We had just finished shooting and walked over to the sidewalk and were not in any way shape or form blocking the entrance to St. Andrews.

Well some guy going in to St. Andrews, driving a Honda CRV HONKS at James to get out of his way (he was over by the sidewalk) and then starts mouthing off and pointing fingers at him! So let me tally this up:

1. Crusty old guy is on his way to CHURCH
2. Gets angry at a BRIDE and GROOM
3. Has the nerve to HONK at them (this is their wedding day remember?)
4. Did I mention he was on his way to CHURCH?

The three of us laughed about it, but the more I thought about it I got kind of irritated about how totally inconsiderate and rude it was. I realize that it was nothing we did, but merely something inside of him, and so I sort of feel bad for him.

So to you, Mr. Grouchy CRV man - you take the bitterness award, for honking and saying nasty things to someone on their WEDDING DAY!
